The above is a photo I used in the painting of "Carla", my dog.
Because I wanted to balance the picture more, I added her tail, which she had hidden when photographed - I used a reference photo for this!

Please provide as many photos of your subject as possible - the more photos you send the better as I can use them for reference. Please remember to indicate which one you wish to be used for expression/pose which are most typical and characteristic of subject. You can either post or email your photos.

The better the photograph, the more detail can be shown in your portrait. If you can, take your photos in natural light it would be much truer to life, as flash flattens an image and the colour is altered.

If your subject is low down, try to get down to their level so that there is no angle when you take your photo, otherwise shortening will occur.

I appreciate that sometimes it is not possible to take photos as the subject is not available, so you will only have old photos to use, these I can take a look at and let you know what we can do with them.

If you are within roughly 30 mile radius of A2 in Kent I can come to you to take the photos, for a small charge only (fuel costs). Please mention this when contacting me.

If you are providing a professional photo, it could be copyrighted, in which case, the photo must be accompanied by a copyright release from the copyright holder.

Please remember to give me the name(s) of subject(s), as I will mark this on the painting.
